Spotted Lanternfly Report

Use this form to report a possible sighting of spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) in Massachusetts

First, compare your insect to these spotted lanternfly photos...
SLF egg mass SLF nymph, 2nd instar, black with white spots (1st instar looks similar but is even smaller) SLF nymph, 3rd instar, black with white spots SLF nymph, final instar, red with black and white markings SLF adult at rest SLF in flight or pinned, red underwings exposed
Egg mass with gray, putty-like protective covering (about 1 inch long, and laid on any smooth, flat surface) SLF nymph, 2nd instar (1st instar looks similar but is slightly smaller) SLF nymph, 3rd instar SLF nymph, final instar SLF adult at rest, side view SLF in flight, bright red underwngs exposed

DESCRIBE ANY PLANT DAMAGE, IF APPLICABLE (sticky honeydew on plants, dripping from plants, or sooty mold growth on or under trees)  

LIST THE TYPES OF PLANTS IMPACTED, IF KNOWN.   
(Note that SLF prefers tree-of-heaven (Ailanthus altissima) as a host tree, and also attacks grapes, hops, and maple, but may be found congregating on many types of trees, sides of buildings, etc.
