MDAR Pest Alert Newsletter: July 2026
This is the July 2026 edition of the Mass. Pest Alert newsletter, brought to you by the Massachusetts Dept. of Agricultural Resources.
Here are the top 4 things to keep an eye out for this month:
- SLF: Our August 12 Spotted Lanternfly webinar will feature Scrape for the Grape, a Virginia volunteer group that removes and destroys spotted lanternfly egg masses in their state. Free continuing education credits are available.
- Wasps: Cicada killers are active in Massachusetts. These large, native wasps hunt cicadas and can sometimes be mistaken for invasive hornets.
- Trees: Late summer is a great time to assess tree health. Taking a few minutes to look over the trees in your yard, apartment complex, or park for signs of disease and damage can help keep them healthy and protect your local forest.
